New walkways in Rotterdam to enable safe access to gas tank safety relief valves

Improving the safety of our facilties is a key directive of DEMI

The periodic inspection of a gas tank container’s safety relief valve is required under international transport regulations and is part of a proactive maintenance program. The SRV guards against the risk of accidental over-pressure in the barrel of the tank container and manages the occurrence of over pressuring if it occurs.
The valve and its seal must be inspected regularly to ensure there is no leakage and to ensure it is functioning properly. These safety relief valves are located on the top of the container which means technicians must climb several meters off the ground to inspect, remove or refit this component.

At DEMI’s Rotterdam facility, technicians are able to reach the top of the containers from elevated walkways.
DEMI’s moveable bridges between the walkways can be positioned directly over the top of the ISO container with an opening for the technician to safely access the valve. The walkways offer the highest level of fall protection with fixed railings ensuring the safety of our employees.
